The 2nd highest-grossing company in the Conveyor Puzzle genre:
Yep 👉🏻 Spyke Games
Spyke was founded in 2020 around a seriously strong founder-market fit.
A star-studded ex-Peak team: Rina Onur Şirinoğlu, Remi Onur, Barkın Başaran, Fuat Coşkun, and Mithat Madra.
Well… STORY? 👇🏻
Let’s split Spyke into 3 phases.
Phase 1 is the Royal Richess era, when they raised a $5M pre-seed from Griffin in February 2021 at a $25M valuation.
Royal Richess was a coin looter product, similar to Coin Master.
Basically a social casino game sitting inside the casual vertical.
After the game launched and was tested in September 2021, Griffin continued backing the company.
On top of the initial $5M, they invested another $50M in January 2022 and closed the seed round.
Spyke’s valuation jumped to $250M.
But even though Royal Riches reached very strong early D30 retention and stickiness numbers, it failed in the long term.
The game started showing its first critical signals around August 2022, roughly 6 months after launch.
We can only imagine how difficult that period must have been for the Spyke team...
And in that difficult period, the experienced team went back to its roots.
They started building puzzle games again.
That’s how the second phase started with Tile Busters :)
At a time when Zen Match was dominating the market, Spyke managed to stay in the game with this tile match attempt.
According to AppMagic, Tile Busters kept growing for 21 months and made $1M+ in monthly IAP revenue until January’25.
During this period, they also launched Blitz Busters.
But compared to Tile Busters, Blitz Busters couldn’t really capture the same momentum.
Then in May 2024, Moon Active came in.
They invested $50M for 15.9% of Spyke.
That brought the valuation to $315M.
After the Moon Active investment, Spyke continued testing different casual-minded games like Cube Busters, Cube Sort Combo Match, and Maze Busters.
But none of them managed to create strong momentum either.
And then the 3rd phase arrived :)
During Pixel Flow’s BOOM, Spyke launched Yarn Loop under the Combo Games label.
The logic is actually very simple…
What is the freshest high-stickiness mechanic in the market right now?
Conveyor puzzle.
What is the CPI-killer concept for 2025?
Yarn, thread, and wool.
And for Spyke, this marked the start of a transition from casual puzzle thinking to hybrid puzzle thinking.
According to AppMagic data, Yarn Loop is now generating over $5.5M in monthly IAP revenue and continues to grow.
At the same time, Spyke keeps testing new hybrid puzzle concepts without slowing down.
Now that we understand how Spyke got here, let’s answer the question in your head :)
“Is this game a copy of Pixel Flow?”
